The bird and sun are powerful totems from the natural world. Signifying change, survival and time. The sun as a compass plays an important role for birds and is used by them to navigate whilst migrating. We wanted to creat a piece of jewellery that reflects this special natural relationship.
Totems can be a natural object such as an animal or plant that can represent a group of people, such as a family, clan, or tribe. They're commonly carved from wood or clay, then painted and serve as a sacred symbol of a group's ancestry or a revered object guiding and protecting you. Inuit tribes hoped that through wearing animal amulets on your neck would, through sympathetic magic, give them the natural attributes of these creatures.
